Mumbai, Maharashtra, INDIA: In a gruesome incident reported from Dharavi in Mumbai, a 20-year-old man was brutally murdered by his acquaintance on Monday March 23, police officials said.
The victim, identified as Ashwin Shivkumar Nadar, was allegedly attacked by Ashiq Asim Akhtar Khan, who stabbed him nearly 20 times before slitting his throat. The accused has been arrested.
According to police sources, the two men knew each other and had a history of personal disputes. Preliminary investigations indicate that the attack may have been triggered by resentment after the victim reportedly refused to maintain a relationship or live with the accused. Authorities believe a long-standing personal feud further escalated tensions between them.
Police rushed to the scene after receiving information about the assault and found the accused standing near the victim’s body with a blood-stained knife. Eyewitnesses told officers that Khan was issuing threats during the attack, allegedly warning that he would kill anyone who tried to intervene.
The injured victim was immediately taken to Sion Municipal Hospital, where he was admitted to the emergency ward. However, he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
An FIR was lodged by the victim’s mother at the local police station. The accused has been booked under relevant sections of the Maharashtra Police Act, 1951, and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for murder and related offences.
Further investigation is underway.
