Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, INDIA: A dispute over blocked phone calls and messages turned fatal on Tuesday February when a 22-year-old woman allegedly stabbed her boyfriend to death at his rented residence in Bilaspur district of Chhattisgarh.

The victim, Kamta Prasad Suryavanshi (25), was employed at a local hotel and lived in a rented house in the Civil Lines area. Police said he had been in a relationship for about six months with Roshni Suryavanshi (22), whom he met on Instagram.

According to investigators, tensions had been building over the past few days after Kamta abruptly stopped communicating with Roshni and blocked her number. Suspecting that he had begun seeing another woman, Roshni allegedly went to his residence on Tuesday afternoon carrying a knife.

Police said that when Kamta opened the door, she demanded to see his mobile phone. His refusal led to a heated argument, which soon escalated into violence. During the altercation, she allegedly stabbed him in the chest.

Hearing the commotion, Kamta’s roommate rushed out and found him lying on the floor in a pool of blood. He was immediately taken to a nearby hospital but succumbed to his injuries on the way.

Bilaspur Superintendent of Police Rajnesh Singh said a murder case has been registered and the accused has been arrested. “The woman came to the victim’s room with a knife and demanded his phone. During the struggle, she stabbed him in the chest, causing fatal injuries,” he said.

Police sources also revealed that Kamta was the nephew of BJP leader and district panchayat president Rajesh Suryavanshi.

During preliminary questioning, the accused claimed that she had brought the knife only to threaten and scare him. However, police are probing her intent, the nature of their relationship, and the exact sequence of events leading to the incident.

The victim’s body has been sent for post-mortem examination, and further investigation is underway.
