Villagers in India net crocodile preying on their farm animals
A crocodile that had been troubling villagers in Odisha state of India was
captured by them and handed over to the Wildlife Department
The crocodile killed several farm animals like goats and pigs.
On August 3, the villagers tied a live pig as bait near a stream along the river and lured the reptile.
As it entered the channel from the river to catch the pig, the villagers caught the crocodile in a big fishing net.
The 8-feet long crocodile was then handed over to the forest department officials who released it in Patasala river within Bhitarkanika National Park on August 5.
Fortunately, though the agitated crocodile snapped its jaws during the capture no one was injured and it too was not injured during its capture.
