Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra, INDIA: A man was brutally murdered in broad daylight in Maharashtra’s Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar on Thursday October 22 after an assailant allegedly rammed his car into the victim’s scooter before attacking him with a hockey stick and an iron rod. The incident, which took place on a busy road near Bajrang Chowk in the N-7 area of CIDCO, was captured on CCTV.
The deceased has been identified as Devesh alias Bunty Dixit, who operated a mess and was also involved in the land plotting business. Police have identified the alleged attacker as Pawan Parashar, who reportedly had a longstanding dispute with the victim.
According to preliminary information, Dixit was returning home from the gym on his scooter when Parashar allegedly followed him in a car and deliberately rammed the two-wheeler from behind. The impact threw Dixit onto the road.
Instead of stopping to help the injured man, Parashar allegedly got out of his vehicle and attacked Dixit with a hockey stick and an iron rod, repeatedly striking him on the head and face. The assault left Dixit with fatal injuries, and he died at the spot.
The brutal killing, carried out on a busy road in broad daylight, has raised concerns over public safety in the area. The incident was captured on CCTV, and the footage is expected to play a crucial role in the police investigation.
Following the attack, Parashar reportedly went to the CIDCO police station. Police subsequently seized the car allegedly used to knock down Dixit's scooter, along with an iron rod believed to have been used in the assault.
The accused is expected to be produced before a court on Friday as police continue their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the killing.
Old Rivalry, Business Dispute Suspected
Preliminary inquiries suggest that Dixit and Parashar had been involved in a dispute for some time. Investigators are examining whether an old rivalry or a disagreement related to business dealings could have triggered the fatal attack.
Dixit was reportedly engaged in running a mess and undertaking land plotting activities. However, the exact nature of his dispute with Parashar and the events that immediately preceded the killing remain unclear.
Police have so far declined to officially confirm the motive behind the murder or disclose further details about the investigation.
Investigators are expected to examine the CCTV footage, the seized vehicle and other evidence to reconstruct the sequence of events and establish whether the attack was premeditated.
The killing has drawn attention because of the manner in which the victim was allegedly knocked off his scooter and assaulted on a public road. Police are continuing their investigation to determine the circumstances that led to the murder.
