Humans act inhuman: Throw a burning tyre on a wild elephant resulting in its death Sagaya Fernando Mumbai, 23 January 2021   Two men have been arrested in the state of Tamil Nadu, India, for their gruesome and inhuman act of throwing a burning tyre on a wild elephant resulting in its death. According to a senior forest official, the elephant was attacked on January 8 after it had damaged a luxury car parked at Mavanalla, a small resort town located 25 kms north of the famous hill-station of Ooty (Udhagamandalam).   After a hue and cry raised by wildlife activists over the issue, the local police arrested two people on January 22 – two days after the elephant died; while one more accused is on the run.   A video of the gruesome attack on the elephant started doing rounds in social media, following which an investigation was launched by the forest department officials and the police.   “The accused flung a burning tyre filled with kerosene at the elephant, which was already being treated

A young lady waiting to catch a train for work at Turbhe railway station in the city of Navi Mumbai – the twin city of Mumbai in India -- was molested by a man in broad daylight, on February 22. The whole incident was captured on CCTV cameras installed in the station, and the molester was caught by the railway police personnel even before he could exit the railway station premises.

“The 22-year-old victim was on her way to work when the incident took place. It was around 11.30 am, while she was waiting for the train, the man who was later identified as Naresh Joshi – a resident of Ghansoli, followed behind her and tried to kiss her on the neck. Taken aback by the molester’s action, the victim pushed him off. Even before the stunned victim could react, the molester calmly walked away,” informed Railway Protection Force Assistant Commissioner of Police Angad Jadhavar.

The whole incident got captured on CCTV cameras in the station premises.

ACP Jadhavar further stated, “After recovering from the shock, the victim approached the police personnel manning the station, and in less than 8 minutes even before the molester could escape from the scene, he was nabbed.”

“The 43 years old molester is a native of Nagpur, but now living with his wife and children at Ghansoli. Investigations are on to find out what made him do such a despicable act,” said ACP Jadhavar.

Joshi was arrested under Section 354 A (sexual harassment) of the Indian Penal Code and was presented in the Court on the same day. The Court has remanded the accused to judicial custody till March 8.

  3. If you live in the North Hemisphere chances are you are low in vitamin D. It's the “sunshine vitamin” and we just aren't able to hang out in shorts every day of the year. Even if we did we'd wisely use a bit of sun protection too.
