Hyderabad, Telangana, INDIA: A 21-year-old woman was allegedly stabbed to death by her partner following an argument over marriage at a house in Shaheen Nagar in Hyderabad early on Monday, August 17, police said.

The victim, identified as Rehana, was originally from Bihar and was working in Hyderabad. Police said she had been in a relationship for about a year with 21-year-old Shaik Ahemad, who is also known as Tota.

According to preliminary information, Rehana had been pressing Ahemad to marry her, leading to tensions between the couple. Police are also examining reports of disagreements over their relationship.

The two allegedly got into an argument at Ahemad's house in Bismillah Colony, Shaheen Nagar, at around 4 a.m. on Monday. During the confrontation, Ahemad allegedly attacked Rehana with a knife, causing fatal injuries.

Police said she died at the house.

The killing came to light after police received a Dial 100 call at around 5 a.m. A police team rushed to the location and found Rehana's body wrapped inside a gunny bag in a bedroom.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Pradeep Kumar Reddy said officers responding to the call found the woman bleeding and confirmed that she had been killed.

Investigators suspect that an attempt was made to conceal the body after the killing. Police are examining the circumstances in which Rehana's body was placed inside the gunny bag and whether anyone assisted the accused.

Some initial reports said Ahemad's mother, Ayesha, allegedly helped place the body in the bag. Police are investigating this allegation and whether any other person had a role in the incident.

Rehana's body was shifted to the Osmania General Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination.

A murder case has been registered at Balapur Police Station. Police are investigating the exact motive, the sequence of events leading to the killing and the possible involvement of others.
