Teacher injures 4-year-old's eye with pencil, brother too assaulted

Firozabad, Uttar Pradesh, INDIA: Police in Uttar Pradesh have launched an investigation after teachers at a private school in Firozabad were accused of seriously injuring two young siblings in separate incidents, including allegations that a four-year-old boy's eye was pierced with a pencil.

The case relates to Mother Pride International School on Kotla Road. An FIR has been registered at Uttar Police Station against the school's director, manager Vishwanath Sharma, and teachers Kajal and Yogendri following a complaint filed by the children's father.

According to the complaint, Manoj Kumar, a resident of Shriram Colony on Kotla Road, alleged that his four-year-old son Anmol, an LKG student at the school, was injured by teacher Kajal during class on July 6. He alleged that the teacher stabbed the child in the eye with a pencil, causing a severe injury. The complaint also alleges that manager Vishwanath Sharma physically assaulted the child.

The family initially sought treatment in Firozabad before transferring Anmol to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, where he underwent eye surgery on July 12, according to the complaint.

The father further alleged that after returning from Delhi, he discovered that his five-year-old elder son Aryan, who also studies at the same school, had allegedly been assaulted by another teacher, identified as Yogendri. He claimed the child suffered a serious ear injury, including a ruptured eardrum and bleeding.

According to the complaint, when the family approached the school management seeking CCTV footage of the incidents, they were allegedly informed that the recordings had been deleted. Manoj Kumar also alleged that school officials behaved aggressively, used abusive language and threatened to kill him when he persisted with his request.

The father stated that he initially approached the police on July 15, but an FIR was not immediately registered. After repeatedly visiting the police station, he submitted a complaint to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP). Police subsequently registered a case on July 26 against the school director, manager and the two teachers.

City Circle Officer (CO) Santosh Kumar Singh confirmed that a case has been registered and that the investigation is underway. He said police have sought CCTV footage from the school and requested the medical records relating to the treatment of both children. Statements from school staff, the children and other relevant witnesses will also be recorded.

Police said further legal action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation and the available evidence. The allegations against the accused remain under investigation, and no findings of guilt have been made by a court.
