Nizamabad, Telangana, INDIA: In a chilling case that has shocked Telangana, a 32-year-old nurse has been arrested for allegedly murdering her husband by injecting a mixture of toilet cleaner and crushed sleeping pills into his intravenous (IV) line after an earlier attempt to kill him by pushing him off a rooftop failed.

The accused, identified as Sandhya, allegedly conspired with her alleged lover Anil (35) and his friend Venkata Sai alias Bunty to murder her husband, Dayini Prashanth (35), in Nyalkal village of Nizamabad district.

According to police, Prashanth had been working in a Gulf country for the past two years and returned to India on June 27. He reportedly decided not to return overseas, a move investigators believe became an obstacle to Sandhya's alleged extramarital relationship with Anil.

Police said the trio first attempted to eliminate Prashanth on the night of June 29. As per the alleged plan, Bunty visited Prashanth, encouraged him to consume large quantities of alcohol, and later took him to the terrace of a building. Following instructions allegedly given by Sandhya over the phone, Bunty allegedly pushed Prashanth off the rooftop. Despite suffering serious injuries, Prashanth survived the fall.

Investigators said Sandhya convinced her husband that he had accidentally fallen due to intoxication. He was initially admitted to a government hospital before being shifted to a private hospital. Later, he was taken home for continued treatment.

Taking advantage of her nursing training, Sandhya allegedly volunteered to administer IV fluids at home. Police allege that on June 30, she injected a toxic mixture of toilet cleaner and crushed sleeping pills through the cannula inserted into Prashanth's vein. Investigators further claimed that she also pushed him off the cot during the incident, resulting in his death.

After Prashanth died, Sandhya allegedly attempted to portray his death as a consequence of the injuries sustained in the fall from the terrace.

However, Prashanth's mother, who lived separately, became suspicious of the circumstances surrounding her son's death and lodged a complaint with the police on July 1, prompting an investigation.

During interrogation, police said Bunty admitted his involvement in the rooftop attack and alleged that the murder was planned by Sandhya, who had also paid him for his role. These statements form part of the ongoing investigation and are yet to be tested in court.

Following the investigation, police arrested Sandhya, Anil and Bunty on July 4. A case has been registered against the three accused, who were produced before a court and remanded to judicial custody.

Police said the investigation is continuing to establish the full sequence of events and gather additional evidence.
