Hyderabad, Telangana, INDIA: A 28-year-old housewife was allegedly murdered by her husband following a domestic dispute at their residence in Kishan Bagh under Bahadurpura police limits on Sunday June 7.

The victim, identified as Nishath Begum alias Nishat Fatima, had been married to Suleiman since 2016. According to police, the couple had been facing marital problems for several years and frequently argued over family issues. Family elders had intervened on multiple occasions and counselled them in an effort to help them resolve their differences.

Police said Nishath had also filed a case against her husband a few years ago. However, the matter was later settled amicably and the couple continued to live together.

The incident came to light when Nishath's mother and sister repeatedly tried to contact her by phone on Sunday but received no response. Concerned about her well-being, her sister visited the house and found Nishath lying dead on the floor.

Preliminary investigations suggest that an argument broke out between the couple before the crime. Police suspect Suleiman attacked his wife with a knife and slit her throat before fleeing the scene.

"We suspect that following a quarrel, the husband attacked his wife with a knife in a fit of rage. A murder case has been registered and special teams have been formed to trace and apprehend the accused," said ACP Falaknuma M.A. Jaweed.

Police teams have collected evidence from the scene and questioned relatives and neighbours as part of the investigation. Efforts are underway to locate and arrest the absconding husband.

The body was shifted to the mortuary at Osmania General Hospital for postmortem examination.

A case of murder has been registered, and further details are expected to emerge following the arrest and interrogation of the accused.
