Pune, Maharashtra, INDIA: A shocking murder case has emerged from Maharashtra's Pune district, where a 26-year-old businessman was allegedly murdered by his fiancée and her lover just months before their scheduled wedding. The victim, Ketan Vishal Agrawal, was allegedly pushed into a 400-foot gorge at the historic Lohagad Fort near Lonavala on June 18.

Police have arrested Ketan's fiancée, Siya Goyal, and her alleged lover, Chetan Babulal Chaudhary, after an investigation revealed what authorities describe as a premeditated murder plot.

Family Devastated by Alleged Betrayal

The incident has left Ketan's family shattered, with his parents demanding the strictest punishment for the accused.

Ketan's father, Vishal Agrawal, questioned why Siya did not simply refuse the marriage if she was unwilling to proceed.

"If she did not want to get married, she could have simply refused. We would have cancelled the wedding immediately. Why take such a drastic step? What kind of mindset do they have? Their mindset is so cruel that someone's 26-year-old son could be killed," he said.

He also appealed to the government to ensure a fast-track trial.

"My only appeal is that this case be fast-tracked and the accused be punished as quickly as possible. They deserve the strictest possible punishment so that a strong message is sent to society," he added.

Ketan's mother echoed similar sentiments, alleging that Siya had betrayed the family's trust.

"My son is no more. Siya and her boyfriend are entirely responsible. She lied to us and betrayed our trust. I met her many times, and we often went shopping and out for dinner together. We never imagined she could do something like this. I demand the death penalty for everyone involved," she said.

Suspicion Grew After Alleged Lack of Reaction

According to Ketan's father, the family initially believed Siya's account that Ketan had accidentally slipped from a cliff while taking photographs at the fort.

However, he said doubts arose when Siya reportedly showed little emotional reaction after Ketan's body was recovered.

"When the police brought his body, Siya did not react at all. There was no sadness on her face, and that bothered us," he said.

Police Probe Uncovers Alleged Murder Conspiracy

According to Pune Rural Superintendent of Police Sandip Singh Gill, the case was initially treated as an accidental death after Siya informed authorities that Ketan had slipped and fallen during a trek at Lohagad Fort.

However, investigators found the circumstances suspicious. Ketan was known to be an experienced trekker, making the accidental fall theory questionable.

Following a complaint filed by Ketan's family, police launched a detailed investigation, examining witness statements, technical evidence and intelligence inputs.

The probe allegedly revealed that Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary had been in a relationship for around a year and had conspired to eliminate Ketan.

"Through confidential sources, witness statements and technical evidence, it was revealed that Siya Goyal had a friend named Chetan Chaudhary. The two had known each other for about a year. They conspired and executed the plan at Lohagad Fort, where Ketan Agrawal was pushed into a gorge, causing his death," SP Gill said.

Police allege that Chaudhary arrived separately at the fort on a two-wheeler before joining Siya and Ketan. The duo then allegedly attacked Ketan and pushed him into the gorge.

Both accused have been arrested and booked under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for murder and criminal conspiracy.

Family Alleges Girl's Relatives Knew About Affair

Ketan's grandfather has alleged that Siya's relatives were aware of her relationship with Chaudhary but still encouraged the marriage alliance.

"We have known the girl's family for 35 years. How could they do this to us? Siya's uncle and aunt pushed for the match despite knowing about her affair," he claimed.

The family has demanded that anyone found to have assisted in the alleged conspiracy should also face legal action.

"The only son of the family has been snatched away. The guilty must receive the harshest punishment, and all those who helped them should also be brought to justice," said Ketan's uncle, Vijay Agrawal.

Wedding Preparations Were Underway

Ketan and Siya got engaged in February and were scheduled to marry in November this year. According to family sources, preparations for the wedding were already in full swing.

The ceremony was planned to take place in Rajasthan, with an upscale venue booked and extensive arrangements reportedly made for guests.

Family members said the couple had recently travelled together and appeared to be preparing for their future, making the tragedy even more shocking for both families.

Investigation Continues

Police said both accused are currently in custody and have been produced before a court. Investigators are continuing to gather forensic and technical evidence and are examining whether any additional individuals were involved in the alleged conspiracy.

As the investigation progresses, Ketan's family continues to seek justice for the young businessman whose life ended just months before what was supposed to be a new chapter of his lif
