Jadcherla, Telangana, INDIA: In a shocking incident that has sparked outrage across Telangana, a 24-year-old woman was allegedly stabbed to death in broad daylight by a man said to be obsessively pursuing her for a relationship and marriage. The accused later died after he was allegedly beaten by enraged bystanders.

The incident took place on Saturday May 16 evening in Jadcherla town of Mahabubnagar district.

The victim, identified as Vaishnavi, was employed as a receptionist at a private school near Polepally. According to police and local sources, she had come into contact with the accused, a resident of Hyderabad, through social media about two years ago.

Investigators said the man had allegedly been pressuring Vaishnavi to accept his marriage proposal. However, she reportedly rejected his advances and distanced herself due to his persistent and troubling behaviour.

Police believe the accused became increasingly resentful after her repeated refusal.

Attacked While Returning Home

According to preliminary findings, the accused intercepted Vaishnavi near Nimmabavigadda in Jadcherla while she was returning home from work on Saturday May 16 evening.

An argument reportedly broke out between the two, following which the man allegedly attacked her with a knife. Vaishnavi sustained critical injuries and collapsed on the roadside.

Local residents rushed to the spot, but she succumbed to her injuries before medical assistance could reach.

The brutal attack, witnessed by several passersby, triggered panic and shock in the area.

Accused Dies After Assault by Bystanders

After the stabbing, the accused allegedly attempted to flee. However, angry locals chased him down and reportedly assaulted him.

Police later shifted the injured man to the Government General Hospital in Mahabubnagar, where he died during treatment in the early hours of Sunday.

Investigation Underway

Police have registered a case and launched a detailed investigation. Officers are recording statements from eyewitnesses and examining the background of the accused and the nature of his interactions with the victim.

The incident has reignited concerns over stalking, harassment through social media, and the growing number of violent crimes stemming from rejected relationships.

Vaishnavi’s family remains devastated by the tragedy. Relatives said she had left for work as usual that morning, unaware that she would never return home.
