Mumbai, Maharashtra, INDIA: In a shocking incident reported from Dahisar East, a 29-year-old man was allegedly beaten to death after confronting his sister-in-law’s alleged lover and urging him to end the relationship.

The deceased has been identified as Sagar Gautam Sugire. Dahisar Police have arrested the accused, identified as Ram Khobaji Dudhane (34), in connection with the murder. A local court has remanded the accused to police custody till June 1.

According to police, Sagar’s elder brother, Mahesh Sugire, a labourer originally from Osmanabad, lives in Mira Road with his wife. Sagar was residing separately in Dahisar. Police said Mahesh and the accused were previously neighbours in the same locality, and the two families were known to each other.

Investigators revealed that Mahesh had recently discovered that his wife was allegedly involved in an illicit relationship with Ram Dudhane. The issue reportedly led to repeated arguments between the couple, following which Mahesh allegedly sent his wife to their native village in Osmanabad. However, she later returned to Mumbai.

Police said Ram allegedly continued visiting Mahesh’s wife while Mahesh was away at work. After learning about the situation, Sagar reportedly approached Ram and tried to persuade him to stay away from his sister-in-law.

During the confrontation, a heated argument broke out between the two men. In a fit of rage, Ram allegedly assaulted Sagar with kicks and punches before pushing him down a staircase. Police further said the accused then allegedly attacked Sagar with a stone, leaving him critically injured.

Following the incident, senior police inspector Sarjerao Patil, police inspector Abdul M. Desai, and other police personnel rushed to the spot after receiving information. Sagar was initially admitted to Shatabdi Hospital and later shifted to Nair Hospital after his condition deteriorated. He succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit.

Based on a complaint lodged by Mahesh Sugire, Dahisar Police registered a case of murder and causing grievous hurt against Ram Dudhane. Soon after the FIR was filed, the accused allegedly fled the area.

Police launched a search operation and detained the accused from Dahisar within a few hours. During interrogation, Ram allegedly confessed to assaulting Sagar with kicks, punches, and a stone, leading to his death.

Police inspector Abdul M. Desai said preliminary investigations suggest that the accused was enraged after Sagar objected to his alleged relationship with the victim’s sister-in-law. Further investigation is underway.
