Vadodara, Gujarat, INDIA: A shocking murder conspiracy has surfaced in Vadodara, where a paan parlour owner miraculously survived an alleged attempt on his life, orchestrated by his wife and her lover. Six people, including the wife, have been arrested in the case.
The victim, Girish Patel, was abducted on April 15 from the Chhani area while returning home. Police said he was forced into a car on Chhani-Sokhda Road by a group of men, threatened at knifepoint, and driven across multiple locations before being thrown into a canal near Sojitra.
Believing him to be dead, the attackers fled. However, Patel managed to cling to a structure inside the canal and struggled for nearly three hours before escaping alive the next morning.
The investigation initially led to the arrest of five suspects. Further probing uncovered a larger conspiracy involving Patel’s wife, Falguni Patel, who was allegedly in a relationship with Kaushik Sharma, a salon owner from Kheda. Police said the two plotted the murder, considering Patel an obstacle.
Sharma allegedly hired contract killer Narendra alias Nikul Goswami for ₹35,000 to execute the plan. Call detail records revealed over 100 calls exchanged between Falguni and Sharma in the two days leading up to the crime. Another accused, Rudra Rawal, was tasked with surveillance.
During the abduction, the assailants also robbed Patel of his ATM card and cash but avoided using the card to prevent identification through CCTV footage.
Based on technical surveillance and interrogation, police arrested Sharma along with Jitendra Baria, Umang Prajapati, Umang Bhoi, and Prithvi Bhoi, all from Kheda. Falguni Patel was later identified as the alleged mastermind and taken into custody.
All six accused have been remanded to judicial custody as further investigation continues.
