Hyderabad, Telangana, INDIA: In a shocking case from Hyderabad, police have arrested a 17-year-old girl and her 22-year-old boyfriend for allegedly murdering the girl’s mother and burying her body inside their house, where they continued to live for months.
The victim, a 40-year-old domestic worker, had gone missing on May 12, 2025, from her residence in Jawaharnagar. Initially treated as a missing person case, the matter remained unsolved for months as no substantial leads emerged.
A breakthrough came nearly a year later when investigators noticed inconsistencies in the minor girl’s statements during renewed questioning. Police examined her call data records, which led them to her boyfriend, a goods vehicle driver. Both were taken into custody on March 17, 2026.
During interrogation, the duo confessed to the crime.
Planned Murder Inside the House
According to police, the woman had strongly opposed her daughter’s relationship due to her minor age and caste differences. This opposition allegedly led the couple to conspire against her.
On the day of the incident, the accused attacked the woman after she returned home. The boyfriend allegedly stabbed her multiple times while the girl restrained her. The victim died on the spot.
The accused initially hid the body under a bed for a day. Later, they dug a pit inside the bedroom, buried the body, and sealed the floor with cement to destroy evidence.
Attempt to Cover Up Crime
To avoid suspicion, the accused fabricated a story that the woman had eloped with another man. The elder daughter of the family, unaware of the crime, was misled into believing the same and even continued living in the house where the body was buried.
Months later, at the insistence of a local acquaintance who doubted the elopement theory, a missing complaint was finally filed in October 2025.
Further investigation also revealed that the accused had destroyed the victim’s mobile phone and allegedly attempted to access her financial assets.
Life After the Crime
Despite committing the murder, the accused continued to lead what neighbours described as a “normal life.” They later moved to another locality, got married in January 2026, and now have a two-month-old child.
The case came to light only after police exhumed skeletal remains from beneath the cemented floor of the house.
Legal Action
Police have booked the accused under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including murder and destruction of evidence. Both have been produced before a magistrate.
Authorities have also initiated proceedings regarding the custody of the infant through the Child Welfare Committee.
