New Delhi, INDIA: In a shocking incident, an elderly couple was found murdered at their residence in Ram Nagar Extension of Shahdara in east Delhi during the early hours of Sunday December 4. The incident has sent shockwaves through the locality, raising concerns over safety and security.
The deceased have been identified as Virendra Kumar Bansal (75), a retired teacher, and his wife Pravesh Bansal (65), a homemaker. Police said they received a PCR call around 12.30 am from the couple’s son, who informed them that his parents were lying unconscious at home.
When police reached the spot, they found the bodies of the couple in two separate rooms on the third floor of the house. Preliminary examination revealed visible injury marks on Virendra Kumar Bansal’s face, strengthening the suspicion of murder.
A case has been registered at MS Park police station under relevant sections of law. While the exact motive behind the killings is yet to be ascertained, police officials said that a robbery angle cannot be ruled out at this stage.
Following the initial assessment, a crime team and officials from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) were called to the scene. The teams conducted a detailed examination, collected evidence, and photographed the entire crime scene. Both bodies were later sent to the hospital morgue for post-mortem examination.
Police are currently questioning residents in the surrounding area and analysing technical evidence, including CCTV footage from the house and nearby locations. The double murder has created an atmosphere of fear in the neighbourhood.
Investigators said all possible angles are being examined and assured that the case will be solved soon and those responsible will be brought to justice.
