Bengaluru, Karnataka, INDIA: A 40-year-old woman was brutally stabbed to death by her alleged lover in Pillanna Garden, under the jurisdiction of Kadugondanahalli Police Station, on Friday October 31 night. The accused, identified as Ambedkar alias Kutti (43), who runs a printing press, has been arrested.

The victim, Renuka (35), a divorcee who worked as a domestic help, was reportedly in a relationship with Kutti for some time. According to police, Renuka had been urging Kutti, who is already married and has no children, to marry her and make their relationship public. However, Kutti repeatedly refused, leading to frequent arguments between the two.

On the night of the incident, around 9.30 pm, Renuka was walking near the BBMP High School in Pillanna Garden when Kutti confronted her. The two reportedly argued over the issue of marriage before Kutti, in a fit of rage, pulled out a knife and stabbed her multiple times in the chest, abdomen, and hands as she tried to defend herself.

Despite being grievously injured, Renuka managed to walk about 100 metres to Periyar Nagar Circle, where passersby noticed her and rushed her to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Hospital. However, she succumbed to her injuries during treatment. Police said she had sustained at least eight stab wounds.

A murder case has been registered based on a complaint filed by Renuka’s sister, who alleged that Kutti had been harassing the victim for several months. Renuka is survived by her mother and an 11-year-old daughter.

Police arrested Kutti on Saturday November 1 and recovered the knife used in the crime. During interrogation, he confessed to the murder, claiming he was unable to bear Renuka’s pressure to marry her.

Further investigation is underway.
