Amravati (Maharashtra): What was meant to be a night of celebration turned into a scene of horror in Amravati when a groom was brutally stabbed on stage during his wedding ceremony on Monday November 10 night. The shocking incident, which took place at Sahil Lawn on Badnera Road, was caught on a drone camera that not only recorded the assault but also followed the attacker as he fled the venue on a motorcycle.

According to police, the victim, Sujal Ram Samudra (22), was greeting guests on stage when the accused, Raghav alias Ragho Jitendra Bakshi, approached him and stabbed him three times on the thigh and knee with a sharp knife. The assault caused chaos among guests, with several people, including the bride and the groom’s mother, fainting at the scene.

Drone Becomes Key Witness

A drone that had been deployed to film the wedding festivities ended up capturing critical evidence. As the crowd scattered in panic, the drone operator kept recording and maneuvered the device to follow the assailant’s escape.

The footage shows the accused, dressed in an orange hoodie, sprinting out of the venue, jumping onto a motorcycle parked outside, and riding off with another man clad in black. The drone camera reportedly tracked the fleeing duo for nearly two kilometres before losing them from sight.

“The drone operator’s presence of mind has proven extremely valuable,” said Station House Officer (SHO) Sunil Chauhan. “The footage clearly captures the assailant’s face and the route he took. This will significantly aid us in identifying and locating the accused.”

Scuffle Over DJ Performance Led to Attack

Preliminary investigations suggest that the stabbing stemmed from a dispute earlier in the evening during a DJ performance. Both the groom and the accused had reportedly been pushed while dancing, which led to an argument. Police believe the altercation angered Bakshi, who later returned to the venue armed with a knife.

In the ensuing chaos after the attack, the accused also allegedly attempted to assault the groom’s father, Ramji Samudra, but he managed to escape unhurt.

Sujal was rushed to RIMS Hospital in Amravati, where doctors confirmed that although he sustained deep wounds, his condition is currently stable.

Counter Complaint by Accused’s Family

While the groom’s family lodged a complaint at Badnera Police Station, accusing Bakshi of attempted murder, the accused’s mother, Preeti Bakshi, filed a counter complaint. She alleged that following the incident, the groom’s friends vandalized their residence in Badnera, damaged household items including a TV and scooter, and set their motorcycle on fire.

“My son had a heated argument with the groom over DJ payment. The groom allegedly abused him and threw his mobile phone. Later, his friends attacked our house and burnt our bike,” she claimed.

However, the groom’s father, Ramji Samudra, denied any prior enmity or provocation, stating that the family was “completely shocked” by the assault.

Police Launch Manhunt

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Ganesh Shinde stated that the case appears to have roots in personal enmity. “The accused is currently absconding, but with the visual evidence we have, his arrest is imminent,” he said.

Police have registered cases under Sections 109(1), 307, 324, 504, and 506 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and are investigating both the main complaint and the counter allegations. Multiple police teams are now using the drone footage to trace the accused and verify the sequence of events.

What began as a joyous celebration of love and unity has now left a young couple traumatized — their wedding remembered not for its vows but for a violent act captured in chilling detail from the skies above.
