Gurugram, Haryana, India: In a shocking incident that has shaken Gurugram’s upscale Central Park Resorts society in Sector 48, two Class 11 students allegedly shot at their classmate using a licensed pistol belonging to the father of one of the accused, police said on Sunday November 9.

The 17-year-old victim sustained a gunshot wound to the neck and remains in critical condition while undergoing treatment at a private hospital. Both accused teenagers have been detained by Gurugram Police.

According to officials, the shooting occurred around 9:30 pm on Saturday, November 8, when one of the accused called the victim to an apartment rented by his father. Preliminary investigations suggest that the attack was the result of an old dispute between the boys, who all study at the same school near the housing complex.

In her complaint to the Sadar Police Station, the victim’s mother stated that her son’s school friend had persistently called him, asking to meet. Initially reluctant, the victim eventually agreed after repeated requests. The accused then arrived at the victim’s residence to pick him up, and the two later met another classmate at Kherki Daula toll before proceeding to the flat.

“About two months ago, my son had an altercation with his friend. Because of that, his friend took him to his house and, along with another friend, shot him with the intention of killing him,” the mother alleged in her statement to the police.

Once inside the flat, the prime accused allegedly opened fire on the victim using his father’s licensed pistol. The injured boy was rushed to Medanta Hospital before the police arrived at the scene.

During a subsequent search of the apartment, police recovered one pistol, two magazines, 70 live cartridges, and a spent shell from the spot. A forensic team was also called in to examine the scene.

Police said the accused’s father, a property dealer from Patli village, had kept the licensed weapon in the house. Investigators are now probing how the minors gained access to the firearm and whether negligence on the part of the owner contributed to the incident.

An FIR has been registered at the Sadar Police Station under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Arms Act.

Following the incident, Gurugram Police have urged all licensed gun owners to store their weapons securely and ensure they remain out of the reach of minors, stressing that such negligence can have tragic consequences.
