Sidhi, Madhya Pradesh, INDIA: A woman head constable posted at Kamarji police station in Sidhi district was brutally beaten to death by her husband with a baseball bat following a heated argument late Monday September 15 night.

The victim, identified as Savita Saket (42), was attacked at her residence in the government police quarters around 11 pm on September 15. According to officials, her husband Virendra Saket (45) repeatedly struck her with a baseball bat during the altercation, leading to her death on the spot.

Police said the couple, married for 26 years, often quarreled and had two children—a daughter aged 22 and a son aged 20. On the night of the incident, Savita had just returned home from duty when the dispute began. Her daughter, who was speaking to her on the phone at the time, overheard the argument and later informed the neighbours and police after her father fled the scene.

The accused, a driver who had deployed his vehicle with the Water Resources Development department, is currently absconding. A baseball bat suspected to be the murder weapon was recovered from the spot.

Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Arvind Shrivastava said, “Several teams have been formed to trace the accused. We are conducting checks at various points across the district.”

Senior officers, including DIG Rewa Range Hemant Chouhan and Sidhi Superintendent of Police Santosh Kori, visited the police lines and took stock of the situation. A condolence meeting was held, where DIG Chouhan described the incident as “an irreparable loss to the police department” and announced immediate financial assistance of ₹1 lakh to the bereaved family.

Savita Saket was cremated after a post-mortem examination. Police said the motive appeared to be a domestic dispute, though further investigation is underway.
