Woman burns husband with boiling tea, flees with ₹1.44 lakh

Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, INDIA: A domestic dispute in Wave City turned violent after a woman allegedly attacked her husband with boiling tea and decamped with cash and valuables worth ₹1.44 lakh.


According to police, the incident occurred on the morning of August 24, when Saurabh Singh was engaged in an argument with his wife, Ankita Singh. In a fit of rage, Ankita allegedly threw boiling tea on him directly from the stove. 


The victim sustained severe burns on his hands, feet, and upper body, along with swelling on the head, nosebleeds, and blisters from his left hand to his chest.


Saurabh Singh further alleged that after the assault, his wife took cash amounting to ₹1.44 lakh and other belongings from the house. CCTV footage from the locality reportedly captured her leaving with the money.


The victim lodged a complaint at the Wave City police station on August 26. Following the complaint, police registered a case and initiated a probe. Singh also underwent a medical examination to document his injuries.


“An investigation is underway based on the victim’s complaint, and necessary legal action will be taken,” said Priyashree Pal, ACP Wave City.
