Hyderabad, Telengana, INDIA: In a chilling crime that has left residents of the city in shock, police have arrested Mahender Reddy for the gruesome murder of his pregnant wife, Swathi Yadav (22). The incident took place in Boduppal’s East Balaji Hills, where the couple had been residing after recently moving to the city.

The Couple’s Background

According to police, Reddy and Swathi were childhood neighbours from Kamareddiguda village in Vikarabad district. Their relationship had blossomed into a love marriage, but what began as a story of companionship tragically ended in violence. Just 25 days ago, the couple shifted to Uppal, Hyderabad, in search of livelihood opportunities.

The Heinous Crime

Investigators revealed that Reddy killed his wife in a brutal manner and dismembered her body—severing her hands, legs, and head. The remains were wrapped in plastic covers and disposed of in the Musi River near Pratapa Singaram. When police reached the crime scene, they were reportedly horrified to find that only the torso of the victim remained.

How the Crime Came to Light

The gruesome act came to the police’s attention when relatives of the accused alerted authorities about the killing. Following the tip-off, police swiftly apprehended Reddy and began investigations into the motive and sequence of events leading up to the murder.

Search and Investigation

Teams from the Disaster Response Force (DRF) and the forensic department have been deployed along the Musi River to trace and recover the missing body parts. Search operations are ongoing, with divers and specialist teams combing through stretches of the river.

Official Response

Police officials stated that preliminary evidence confirms premeditation in the killing, though the exact motive remains under investigation. Authorities are questioning Reddy to determine whether financial issues, domestic disputes, or other factors triggered the crime.

“This is one of the most brutal cases we have seen in recent times. The manner in which the victim’s body was disposed of is deeply disturbing,” a senior police officer said.

The accused has been taken into custody and is expected to be produced before court shortly. The investigation is continuing, with police assuring that all aspects—including forensic evidence and testimonies from neighbours and relatives—will be thoroughly examined.

The shocking incident has created an atmosphere of fear and disbelief in the Boduppal–Uppal area, while residents of the couple’s native Vikarabad district are still grappling with the horrifying news.
