New Delhi, INDIA: A 28-year-old man was allegedly stabbed to death during a violent altercation in East Delhi’s Ghazipur area late Wednesday July 30 night. Police have arrested three men and apprehended a juvenile in connection with the murder.

The deceased, identified as Vikas Walecha, a resident of NIT Sector 5 in Faridabad, was employed as a sales manager at a private company in Sector 5, Noida. Another employee from the same company, Sumit Sharma, a resident of Ghaziabad, sustained a fractured leg during the incident and is currently undergoing treatment at Lal Bahadur Shastri (LBS) Hospital.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Abhishek Dhania, the incident unfolded during a birthday celebration involving Walecha and his colleagues. During the gathering, Walecha recounted a prior altercation he had with a local momo vendor, identified as Salman Khan.

At around 10:30 pm, the group of employees decided to confront the vendor and drove to the Paper Market near the CNG pump in Ghazipur in three vehicles. Upon spotting Salman near a wine shop, they approached him. In response, Salman allegedly called his associates—identified as Azad Kumar Mishra (31), Monu Mishra (28), and others.

A scuffle broke out during which Walecha was fatally stabbed. Sharma was also injured in the attack. Both men were taken to LBS Hospital, where Walecha was declared brought dead.

Police registered a case at the Ghazipur police station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including Section 103 (murder), Section 109(1) (attempted murder), Section 191(2) (rioting), and Section 3(5) (common intent).

Three suspects—Salman Khan (24), Azad Mishra, and Monu Mishra—were arrested within hours, and a 13-year-old juvenile was also detained. All the accused are residents of Khoda Colony in Ghaziabad. Police also recovered a knife and an iron rod allegedly used in the attack from the crime scene.

Multiple police teams were deployed to investigate the case. CCTV and automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) camera footage were analyzed to identify the suspects and track their movements.

Further investigation is underway to determine the full sequence of events and identify others who may have been involved in the attack
