Indore, Madhya Pradesh, INDIA: In a shocking case of betrayal and conspiracy, police in Indore have arrested five people, including a man and his second wife, for the cold-blooded murder of his 28-year-old first wife in the Kanadiya area.
The victim, Rani, was found dead under suspicious circumstances on August 14. Initially, her husband, Ishwar Songra, tried to pass off the death as the result of a road accident. However, an autopsy later confirmed that she had died from a bullet wound to the head, exposing the crime as a planned murder.
According to police, investigations revealed that Ishwar and his second wife, Toshika, had been plotting Rani’s murder for over a month. They allegedly hired contract killers to eliminate her and “clear the path” for their relationship.
Marriage, disputes, and conspiracy
Police said Rani married Ishwar in 2014, and the couple had two children — a seven-year-old daughter and a five-year-old son. While the marriage appeared stable in its early years, tensions escalated after Ishwar married Toshika, leading to frequent quarrels.
Additional DCP (Zone-2) Amrendra Singh said that during questioning of both families, suspicions mounted against Ishwar and Toshika. Investigators then examined CCTV footage and technical evidence, which pointed towards a murder conspiracy.
Execution of the crime
The probe revealed that Ishwar and Toshika had approached Muzaffar Khan, a close friend of Ishwar and a fellow school bus driver, to execute the killing. Muzaffar accepted the “supari” (contract) due to both money and his personal ties with Ishwar.
On the day of the crime, Muzaffar arrived at the spot on a motorcycle, wearing a helmet to conceal his identity. He fired at Rani from close range with an illegal country-made pistol and fled the scene.
Arrests and recovery
A detailed investigation led to the arrest of Ishwar Songra (Kanadiya), Toshika (Kanadiya), Aman Mimrot (Ganraj Nagar, Khajrana), Mohammad Samad (Khajrana, Indore), Muzaffar Khan (Gandhigram Colony, Khajrana)
Police also seized two country-made pistols, two live cartridges, a car, a motorcycle, and five mobile phones used in the crime.
Officials said all five accused played active roles — from arranging weapons and logistics to executing the murder itself. Ishwar and Toshika were the masterminds, while Muzaffar pulled the trigger, assisted by Aman and Samad.
