Love, betrayal and murder: How a BJP leader killed his wife in Ajmer

Ajmer, Rajasthan, INDIA: In a chilling tale of love turned lethal, politics and passion collided inside the home of BJP leader Rohit Saini. What began as an apparent robbery on August 10 in Ajmer’s Kishangarh quickly unraveled into a story of betrayal, deceit, and a murder orchestrated within the four walls of a family home.

The Night of the Murder

Sanju, wife of Rohit Saini, was found dead under suspicious circumstances. At first glance, it appeared to be a case of violent theft. Rohit himself told police that robbers had broken into the house, killed his wife, and fled with valuables. He even sat weeping beside her body, convincing onlookers of his grief.

But to investigators, something felt off. There were inconsistencies in his statements, details that did not add up. Within hours, the cracks in Rohit’s story began to show.

The Confession

Additional SP Rural Deepak Kumar, who led the probe, recalled how the BJP leader’s narrative shifted under questioning. “His versions kept changing. That made us suspicious,” he said. Under sustained interrogation, Rohit’s composure collapsed. He confessed: it wasn’t robbers who killed Sanju. It was him.

The truth was even darker. The killing had not been an impulsive act of rage but a carefully plotted crime—driven, as Rohit admitted, by pressure from his long-time lover, Ritu Saini.

Fatal Affair

For years, Rohit and Ritu had been in a relationship. But with Sanju in the picture, their future together remained a fantasy. Police say Ritu saw Rohit’s wife as the one obstacle standing in the way of their marriage. Investigators described her influence as “constant pressure” to eliminate Sanju.

Under this influence, Rohit strangled his wife and then staged the scene to look like a robbery gone wrong. But his fabricated story could not withstand police scrutiny.

Betrayal Unveiled

Within 24 hours of the crime, both Rohit and Ritu were arrested. The speed of the breakthrough shocked many in Ajmer, not least the Saini family, who had to grapple with the brutal truth—that Sanju’s death was not at the hands of faceless criminals but planned by her own husband, a man who wept over her body even as he knew the truth.

A Political Scandal

The case has left the local BJP unit reeling. Rohit Saini, once a familiar face in political circles, now finds himself behind bars. His arrest not only exposed a sordid personal betrayal but also raised questions about morality and power in the political arena.

What Lies Ahead

As police continue interrogating both Rohit and Ritu, they are piecing together the finer details—how the murder was planned, whether others were complicit, and how long the affair had cast its shadow over Sanju’s life.

For the family, however, answers bring little comfort. A daughter-in-law lost to betrayal. A son who traded loyalty for lust. And a community stunned by how swiftly love, when poisoned by ambition and pressure, can descend into murder.
