Anjar, Gujarat, INDIA: In a tragic and shocking incident that has rocked law enforcement community, a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan allegedly strangled his live-in partner — a 25-year-old Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) — during a violent altercation late Friday July 18 night in Gujarat’s Kutch district. The accused, after reportedly attempting suicide, later surrendered to police.

The victim, Aruna Natubhai Jadav, was posted at the Anjar police station and lived in Gangotri Society-2, Anjar. Originally from Derwada village in Surendranagar district, she was in a relationship with the accused, Dilip Dangachhiya, a CRPF soldier currently stationed in Manipur.

According to preliminary police reports, the couple got into a heated argument at Aruna’s residence. The confrontation escalated, culminating in Dilip allegedly strangling her to death in a fit of rage, say the police.

After the act, Dilip reportedly tried to end his own life but survived the attempt. He later presented himself at the local police station on Saturday July 19 morning and surrendered.

Confirming the incident, Inspector A.R. Gohil of Anjar Police stated that a full investigation is underway to determine the precise motive and timeline of events. Dilip, who is originally from a village near Aruna’s hometown, remains in police custody and is being interrogated.

The tragic case has raised serious concerns about mental health awareness and conflict resolution within India’s armed forces and police institutions
