Drug-addicted son kills mother for ₹20

Gurugram, Haryana, INDIA: In a shocking act of domestic violence, a 56-year-old woman in the north Indian state of Haryana’s Nuh district was brutally murdered by her drug-addicted son after she refused to give him ₹20. The incident took place on Saturday July 19 in the village of Jaisinghpur, police confirmed on Sunday July 20.

According to investigators, the accused, identified as Jamshed, demanded ₹20 from his mother, Rajiya. When she declined, he allegedly attacked her with an axe in a fit of rage, killing her on the spot. Disturbingly, police said Jamshed spent the entire night in the same house with his mother’s lifeless body before being taken into custody the following day.

Authorities described the accused as a long-term substance abuser, known to consume marijuana and opium regularly. “He had been under the influence of drugs for quite some time,” a senior police officer stated. “An FIR has been registered under relevant sections, and the accused is currently being questioned.”

The victim’s body was sent for autopsy and later handed over to the family for last rites. Police also revealed that Rajiya had lost her husband, Mubarak, just four months earlier, compounding the tragedy for the bereaved family.
