Boyfriend confesses to killing model

Panipat, Haryana, INDIA: The Haryana Police have cracked the murder case of 22-year-old model Sheetal Choudhary, whose body was recovered from a canal in Sonipat with her throat slit and multiple stab wounds. Her boyfriend, Sunil, a married man and father of two children, has confessed to the crime.

 

Timeline of Events:

 

June 14, 2025 – The Fatal Night
Sheetal Choudhary, also known as Simi in the regional Haryanvi entertainment industry, had travelled to Ahar village in Panipat for a scheduled album shoot. Around 10:30 pm, Sunil arrived to meet her. The two reportedly consumed alcohol in his car, after which an argument ensued.

At approximately 1:30 am, Sheetal made a video call to her sister Neha, stating that Sunil was physically assaulting her. Moments later, her phone went unreachable. Neha promptly filed a missing person’s complaint with the Panipat police.

 

June 15 – Vehicle Discovered, but No Sign of Sheetal
The following day, Haryana Police located Sunil's abandoned car submerged in a canal near Panipat. Sheetal was not in the vehicle. Sunil was found admitted to a local hospital, claiming that their car had fallen into the canal and Sheetal had drowned. He said he managed to escape and survive.

 

June 16 – Body Recovered
A female body with visible stab wounds and a slashed throat was found floating in a canal in Kharkhoda, Sonipat, nearly 80 kilometers downstream from Panipat. The victim was identified as Sheetal based on distinctive tattoos on her hand and chest. Her body was sent to Khanpur Medical College for autopsy.

 

June 17 – Confession and Arrest
Under sustained interrogation, Sunil admitted to murdering Sheetal and attempting to stage the crime as an accident. He revealed that after the heated altercation, he assaulted and fatally stabbed her inside the vehicle, disposed of her body by throwing it into the canal, and then abandoned the car at the scene.

 

The Relationship and Motive

According to police sources, Sheetal and Sunil had known each other for nearly six years. She had worked at a hotel in Karnal owned by Sunil. Despite being married with two children, Sunil had proposed marriage to Sheetal. However, she rejected his proposal after discovering his marital status and family background. Sheetal herself was married and had a five-month-old child.

 

While the precise motive behind the murder is still under investigation, police believe rejection, jealousy, and an escalating confrontation led to the fatal assault. Deputy Superintendent of Police Satish Kumar Vats confirmed that Sunil will be produced in court today to seek custodial remand for further investigation.

Sheetal’s body was handed over to her family following the autopsy. Her final rites were conducted in her hometown amid emotional scenes.
