Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, INDIA: A 12-year-old Dalit girl was allegedly gang-raped by five schoolboys inside the principal’s office of a school in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, on May 8, 2025. All the accused are minors aged between 12 and 15, police said.
The accused, who study at the same school, allegedly lured the girl—who attends a different school in the same locality—by calling her to the premises while she was playing outside her home. One of the boys reportedly used a key belonging to his father, the school’s security guard, to gain access to the school building.
According to the police, the girl was offered a soft drink that had been spiked with an intoxicating substance. After she lost consciousness, the boys allegedly took her to the principal’s office, where they raped her in turns. The act was filmed on a mobile phone. The victim was later threatened with death and warned that the video would be released on social media if she spoke to anyone.
The incident came to light after the video was leaked online. A neighbour of the victim's family viewed the footage and alerted her mother, who then approached the police.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Satpal Antil confirmed that an FIR has been registered and all five accused were arrested and presented before the Juvenile Justice Board. The girl is receiving psychological counselling.
“All five minors have been taken into custody and the investigation is on-going. A charge-sheet will be filed soon,” SSP Antil said.
Police have seized the mobile phone used to record the incident. The case has triggered public anger and renewed scrutiny of juvenile crime and school security protocols in India.
