Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, India – A shocking case of betrayal and murder has come to light after the arrest of Pintu Singh, the prime accused in the poisoning of three children. After evading capture for seven months, Singh was apprehended on March 31, 2025, by Jakhania Kotwali Police. The incident, which took place on August 30, 2024, in a slum near Jakhania Tehsil, resulted in the tragic death of four-year-old Ritu, while her two younger siblings narrowly survived.

Crime Unfolds in a Chilling Act of Betrayal

Annu Devi, a tea vendor, allegedly poisoned her three children - Madhu (5), Ritu (4), and Jagriti (2.5) - at the urging of her lover, Pintu Singh. The children were fed rotis mixed with rat poison, leading to their rapid decline in health. The next morning, Chetan Gond, the father, discovered an empty rat poison packet and immediately rushed the children to a nearby community health center. Despite medical efforts, Ritu tragically passed away, while the other two children survived after treatment.

Swift Police Action Leads to Arrests

Following the incident, Annu Devi was arrested within days near Almari railway gate in Dullapur and sent to jail. However, Pintu Singh remained on the run for seven months. The police, acting on intelligence and a Rs.25,000 bounty on his head, arrested him near Southern Railway Crossing on March 31, 2025, at 11:50 am. Pintu Singh, a resident of Sundarpur Naugaon, Dibiyapur, in Auraiya district, is now in police custody and being interrogated.
