Begusarai, Bihar – April 22: In a deeply disturbing incident that has shocked the country, a woman in Bihar’s Begusarai district has been arrested for allegedly murdering her 6-year-old son by forcing him to ingest acid -- an act reportedly committed at the behest of her lover. The child, according to local authorities, had become an “obstacle” in the illicit relationship.
The incident occurred in Husaena village under the Ballia police jurisdiction, where the accused woman had recently relocated with her son following the death of her husband, Lalan Kunwar, around six months ago. After moving to the village from their native Mosadpur, she allegedly began a romantic affair with a local youth.
Police investigations reveal that the woman’s young son frequently disrupted her meetings with her lover, prompting the duo to devise a chilling plan to remove him permanently. On an undisclosed date earlier this month, the woman allegedly administered acid to her son, leaving him critically injured.
Upon learning of the child’s condition, his paternal grandmother rushed to the scene and immediately took him to a nearby hospital. Despite emergency medical intervention, the boy succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
The incident came to light after hospital authorities reported the suspicious circumstances to the police. Officers from the Refinery Police Station arrived at the medical facility, took custody of the child's body, and initiated a formal investigation. The mother was taken into custody shortly thereafter.
Authorities are currently conducting a manhunt for the woman’s alleged lover, who is believed to have incited the murder. The case has sent shockwaves through the region, with many questioning how a mother could commit such a brutal act against her own child.
Senior police officials have assured that justice will be delivered and that the investigation is being conducted with utmost seriousness.
