Father rapes 13-year-old daughter days after coming out on bail

Darbhanga, Bihar – In a deeply disturbing case that has shocked the region, a 45-year-old man released on bail after serving six years under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act has been rearrested for allegedly raping his 13-year-old daughter. The latest incident occurred on April 15 in a village under Manigachhi police station limits in Darbhanga district, Bihar.

This is an important and alarming case that raises urgent questions about the safety of children, the effectiveness of bail provisions, and the monitoring of convicted sex offenders.

According to police officials, the man had recently returned to his village after securing bail in a child sexual abuse case registered in Delhi. Within days of his release, he allegedly raped his minor daughter inside their home. The victim disclosed the assault to her mother, who immediately approached Manigachhi Police Station to report the crime.

Police acted promptly, arresting the accused and producing him in court on April 18. He was subsequently remanded to judicial custody. The minor girl has undergone a medical examination in Darbhanga, and her statement has been recorded as part of the formal investigation.

The police authorities confirmed that the accused had earlier been convicted and imprisoned for a similar crime under the POCSO Act, and his latest offense has reignited widespread public outrage. Senior police officials have called it a “case of extreme cruelty and betrayal of trust.”

Manigachhi, formerly an assembly constituency in Darbhanga district, is gripped by anger and disbelief over the incident. Child rights activists and legal experts are calling for urgent reforms to ensure stricter post-bail surveillance of sex offenders and more robust safeguards for children living in vulnerable conditions.

The case has become a major topic of discussion in the district and beyond, with growing demands for fast-track legal action and support for the victim and her family.
