Drunk son burns father alive

Assam, India – In a horrifying act of domestic violence, a man in Kaki, located in the Hojai district of northeastern Indian state of Assam, allegedly killed his elderly father by setting him on fire after a violent assault on the night of April 15, 2025.

The accused, identified as Rajkumar Champia, was arrested by Kaki police around 3 am. the following morning.

According to police reports and eyewitness accounts, Rajkumar returned home in an inebriated state and launched a violent attack on his father, Charjon Champia. The situation escalated after Rajkumar allegedly crushed his father’s limbs and set him ablaze, causing critical injuries that led to the elderly man's death despite urgent medical intervention.


Speaking to the media, Rajkumar’s wife revealed the disturbing details of the incident. “My husband returned home drunk and started beating my father-in-law mercilessly. He lost consciousness after the assault, and then Rajkumar burned him alive,” she recounted.

She further explained that the violence stemmed from a domestic dispute: “The fight started because my father-in-law had scolded Rajkumar’s son from a previous marriage for stealing. My husband was enraged and returned home furious.”

In a chilling revelation, she added that Rajkumar threatened to kill her when she attempted to intervene. The Kaki police swiftly arrested Rajkumar and have launched a full-scale investigation into the case.

The incident has sent shockwaves across the local community, highlighting the dangers of unchecked domestic abuse and alcohol-related violence in vulnerable households.
