In a chilling case of contract killing, 58-year-old studio owner Dilip Gorai was brutally murdered in broad daylight on January 13 in Chandil Bazar, located at Saraikela-Kharsawan district in the state of Jharkhand, India. Investigations revealed that the crime was orchestrated by none other than his own son.
According to police reports, two armed assailants stormed Gorai’s studio at approximately 11 am and fatally shot him before fleeing the scene on a motorcycle. However, their actions were recorded on CCTV cameras, providing crucial evidence for the police inquiry.Detectives launched an immediate investigation, analyzing CCTV footage and images captured by the victim moments before the attack. The probe uncovered a shocking conspiracy -- Dilip Gorai’s son from his first marriage, Rakesh alias Pappu Gorai, had hired hitmen to murder his father.
Reports indicate that Rakesh paid ₹ 65,000 to his adopted nephew, Sumit Solanki, to carry out the assassination. Solanki, along with his accomplice Kailash Karmakar, executed the killing.
During a press briefing on January 19, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Arvind Kumar confirmed the arrests of all three suspects. The accused have been taken into custody, and further legal proceedings are underway.
The case has sent shockwaves through the local community in India, raising concerns over rising contract killings and familial disputes escalating into extreme violence. Detectives continue to investigate the motive behind the murder and any additional connections to the crime.
