Detectives
in Jammu have successfully solved the brutal murder of a 17-year-old minor,
leading to the arrest of three suspects, police officials confirmed on January
28.
The incident, which occurred on January 13 in the Bishnah area of Jammu -- a city in the Indian-administered union territory of Jammu and Kashmir -- was reported to local authorities at 11:55 pm. Upon arrival at the crime scene along Bhatyari-Bishnah Road, police discovered the body of Ajay Kumar, a 17-year-old minivan conductor, who had been attacked with a sharp-edged weapon.
Acting swiftly, the police registered FIR No. 04/2025 under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) along with provisions of the Arms Act. A special investigation team, led by Inspector Sushil Choudhary under the supervision of senior officers, launched an extensive probe, utilizing both technical analysis and human intelligence to track the killers.
Following intensive efforts, authorities apprehended three individuals -- Anmol Sharma (24), Nikhil Sharma (29), and Nishant Choudhary (23), all residents of Samba district in the Union Territory . During interrogation, the suspects confessed to the crime, revealing that the murder was driven by a personal rivalry. According to police, Nikhil Sharma inflicted the fatal attack using a sharp-edged Toka blade, while the other two accused assisted in the execution of the crime.
Investigators have recovered the weapons used in the attack -- a Toka blade and a Khukri knife -- as well as a Volkswagen Polo vehicle (registration number JK21H 0505) involved in the incident.
With all three suspects in custody and crucial evidence secured, the case is moving towards prosecution. Jammu and Kashmir Police reiterated their commitment to upholding law and order, ensuring swift justice in the case.
