The quick reflexes of a train pilot who applied emergency brakes saved an elderly man walking on the rail track being run over in India.

70-year-old Hari Shankar was crossing the track from one platform to another at Kalyan station (near Mumbai in Maharashtra) even as 02193 Mumbai-Varanasi Special Train started departing from platform number 4.

From his seat in the train, the pilot couldn’t see Hari Shankar crossing the track just ahead of locomotive. But, the Chief Permanent Way Inspector Santosh Kumar who was at the platform noticed the movement of Shankar on the tracks and raised an alarm. Hearing the shouts, locomotive pilot S K Pradhan and assistant loco pilot Ravi Shankar G without any second thoughts applied the emergency brakes. By this time, the elderly man had come under the front portion of the engine and got stuck, but fortunately was unhurt.

The two loco pilots then jumped down and pulled the stunned bespectacled man out from under the engine, reassuring him repeatedly that he was safe, and calming him as he crawled out of what could have been certain death.

He was helped on his feet and apparently unhurt, taken a few feet away to rest, even as the railway officials gently counselled him to refrain from such acts.

“Uncle, you have escaped the jaws of death. Seeing you there, we were terrified. Please don’t walk on tracks like this,” one of the officials is heard saying in a video.

The railway authorities issued another appeal to citizens not to trespass on railway tracks since it can prove to be fatal.

Doctors in India remove world’s heaviest Ovarian tumour Sagaya Fernando Mumbai: 24 October 2018-10-24 It was a quirk of fate that brought 46-years-old Vasantha – a farm hand with a massive abdominal swelling from the hill station of Ooty in Tamil Nadu, India – to doctors 85 kilometers downhill at Coimbatore who diagnosed it to be a gigantic ovarian tumour. “The patient’s abdomen started to swell gradually over a period of two years and started looking like as if she was pregnant with at least quadruplets. In the meantime, her daughter was to get engaged. Afraid of facing the people who would question her about the swollen abdomen and make snide remarks, she along with her husband Pokkisam approached a local doctor at Ooty, who diagnosed her of having a huge tumour and said that her chances of survival are slim even after a surgery. Hearing this, her spouse got disturbed. And, in a state of disturbed mind one day Pokkisam boarded a wrong bus home. A co-passenger who saw
