Patients have a
lucky escape as ventilator bursts into flames and engulfs hospital ICU ward
Patients
undergoing treatment for coronavirus at the government run Sir Sayajirao
General Hospital in Vadodara, Gujarat, had a narrow escape when a ventilator
burst into flames and engulfed the intensive care unit (ICU) ward on September
8.
In all 272
Covid-19 positive patients were undergoing treatment at the hospital at the
time when the incident occurred.
The incident was
captured on CCTV placed inside the ward.
When smoke started
emanating from the device, the hospital staff started shifting the patients.
Soon, the ventilator burst into flames and fire started spreading in the ward.
The patients were
evacuated by the medical staff in the nick of the time, and were shifted to
GMERS Gotri Hospital.
