14 die as boat
capsizes in Chambal river in Rajasthan
At least 14 people were feared drowned as a boat carrying around 40 pilgrims capsized in the Dhibri Chambal river near Khatoli in Rajasthan’s Kota district on September 16.
19 people were
rescued by local villagers.
The devotees,
residents of Gothda Kala village, were on their way to Kamleshwar Mahadev
Temple in Indergarh at Bundi district, across the Chambal River when the boat
capsized.
While some managed
to swim to safety, some others were rescued, while 14 people drowned.
Rajasthan Chief
Minister Ashok Gehlot announced ex-gratia of Rs 1 lakh each to the next of
the kin of the persons who died in the incident.
