Man narrowly escapes wild bear attack

A man who was mauled by a wild bear in Bhawanipatna town of Odisha state, India, today morning had a lucky escape from death.
The wild bear that strayed from the nearby jungle - Bhawanipatna straddles between Karlapat Wildlife Sanctuary and Kotgarh Elephant Reserve.
The appearance of the trigged in the residential area triggered panic amongst the residents. A man who was on his morning walk was caught unawares when the wild bear chased him and went for his jugular vein.
A crowd had by then gathered around the and started beating the bear with sticks, which made the animal to let go of the man and rush into an enclosed compound, making people inside there scurry out in panic.
The local wildlife authorities were informed, who rushed to the spot to capture the wild bear.
“Our team was able to tranquilize the bear and capture it without further harm. It will now be released back in the forest,” informed Kalahandi District Forest Officer Nitish Kumar..
