Sagaya Fernando Mumbai: 6 November 22 A team of doctors at Apollo Multispecialty hospital in Triuchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, India, saved the life of a 33-years-old man whose neck was pierced through by a feet long iron rod. Karthikeyan, a resident of Ariyamangalam in the city, was watering the concrete slabs on the first floor of his under-construction house when he accidentally slipped and fell 15 to 20 feet down, on October 15. As he fell, a 5 feet long iron rod with serrated edges pierced through his neck and came out from the back. “Within fifteen minutes of the mishap, his relatives rushed him to our hospital which is in close vicinity,” informed Apollo Multispecialty Hospital, Triuchirappalli, Consultant General, Laparoscopic and Bariatric Surgeon Dr Mohamed Mansoor, who led the operating team. “On evaluation in emergency, it was seen that he had a 5 feet long iron rod penetrating into the anterior aspect of neck and exiting the posterior aspect of neck.

A five-year-old travelling on a bike with her parents in India had a lucky escape after the bike meets with an accident wherein her parents are thrown off while she is carried nearly 200 metres before landing on a grassy patch.
The incident took place on the Tumakuru-Bengaluru Highway under the Nelamangala Traffic Police jurisdiction near Bengaluru city in Karnataka, India, on August 19.
A video of the incident captured on the dashboard cam of a car has gone viral on the social media.
The 56 seconds video shows the biker with a woman riding pillion and the girl on the fuel tank, trying to overtake vehicles on the highway. The rashly driving biker dashes against a scooter in the front throwing the scooterist on to the road. He and the pillion riding woman are also thrown off the bike in the impact. But, the bike speeds on with the child sitting atop the fuel tank. The bike narrowly misses a truck and after about 200 metres strike the median covered with grass, throwing the child on the grass pad, saving her life. Meanwhile, other motorists rush in and pick up the unscathed but traumatized girl.
“The incident took place around 3.30 pm near Arishinakunte village on the Tumakuru-Bengaluru Highway. The biker was riding rashly and that too without a helmet and fled from the scene after the accident. The woman was admitted to Nelamangala Government Hospital and left after taking first-aid for minor bruises on her forehead. The scooterist identified as Channaparameshwara Guru of Mallasandra sustained head injuries and is undergoing treatment at the Nelamangala Hospital. A case of rash and negligent riding has been registered against the biker,” said Nelamangala Traffic Police Inspector Ramesh G R.
