Banaskantha, Gujarat, INDIA: A murder that initially appeared to be a case of natural death has unfolded into an alleged conspiracy involving a woman, her lover and another accomplice after police uncovered evidence pointing to a planned killing in Gujarat's Banaskantha district.

The victim, identified as Gamabhai Thakor, a farm labourer from Ganeshpura village in the Vav-Tharad area, was found dead at his residence on July 8. At first, the death appeared to be due to natural causes. However, suspicions raised by family members prompted Tharad police to launch an investigation.

According to police, the investigation revealed that Gamabhai's wife, Narmada, had allegedly conspired with her lover, Premji Patel, and another accused, Mukesh Thakor, to murder him.

Husband Allegedly Caught Wife With Lover

Police said Gamabhai had gone to work in the fields on the day of the incident. When he returned home later that night, he allegedly found his wife in a compromising situation with Premji, leading to a heated argument.

Investigators alleged that during the confrontation, Narmada struck Gamabhai on the head with a wooden plank. After he collapsed, police claim that Narmada, Premji and Mukesh placed him on a cot and strangled him with a rope, resulting in his death.

Murder Allegedly Disguised as Natural Death

According to police, the accused informed relatives the following morning that Gamabhai had died a natural death. However, the circumstances surrounding the death raised suspicion, prompting a post-mortem examination.

Police said the autopsy ruled out natural causes and indicated that the death was homicidal, leading investigators to register a case of murder and criminal conspiracy.

Three Arrested

Following a complaint lodged by the victim's family, Tharad police questioned the suspects and allegedly uncovered the conspiracy.

Narmada, Premji Patel and Mukesh Thakor have all been arrested. Police said further investigation is underway to establish the complete sequence of events and determine the role played by each accused.

The incident has sent shockwaves through Ganeshpura village, as Gamabhai and Narmada were parents to nine children.

With the father dead and the mother now behind bars on murder charges, the children have been left to face an uncertain future while the criminal investigation continues.

Police said the investigation remains ongoing, and additional evidence is being collected.
