Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh, INDIA: In a shocking double murder case from Uttar Pradesh’s
Bulandshahr district, a 28-year-old man allegedly shot dead his wife and father after
suspecting the two were involved in an illicit relationship, police said.

The incident took place on Sunday May 24 in Kalandargarhi village under the Khurja Nagar
Kotwali area. The accused, identified as Momin Khan, allegedly used his father’s licensed
pistol to carry out the killings before fleeing the scene.

According to police, Momin first shot his 50-year-old father, Mohd Riyazuddin, a property
dealer, in the temple and then opened fire on his 24-year-old wife Sana, shooting her in the
chest and stomach. Both victims were found lying in pools of blood inside the house.

Riyazuddin died on the spot, while Sana was rushed to a hospital in critical condition, where
she later succumbed to her injuries during treatment. Police said Sana had delivered a baby
boy nearly two weeks ago, but Momin reportedly doubted the child’s paternity.
Officials said Momin, who runs a medical store in Aligarh, had been suspecting an illicit
relationship between his father and wife for several months, leading to repeated quarrels
within the family.

Senior Superintendent of Police Dinesh Kumar Singh said the matter had escalated earlier in
the day, following which Sana’s family members came to the house to intervene and settle
the dispute. However, shortly after they left, Momin allegedly picked up the licensed firearm
and shot both victims.

During interrogation, the accused allegedly told police that he had discovered obscene chats
and photographs exchanged between his wife and father on a mobile phone. He further
claimed that he had caught the two in a compromising position months ago and had
repeatedly warned them, but their relationship allegedly continued.

Police launched a manhunt after the incident and arrested Momin within hours. SP Dehat
Antariksh Jain said the accused was tracked using CCTV footage and surveillance teams and
was apprehended around 1.5 kilometres away from his residence.

A case has been registered against Momin under Section 103 (murder) of the Bharatiya
Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and further investigation is underway, police added.
