Bengaluru, Karnataka, INDIA: In a chilling case of betrayal and premeditated murder, a man allegedly killed his lover’s husband after befriending him and taking him out for drinks, before dumping the body in an industrial area on the city’s outskirts.
The accused, identified as Basudev Malik, was reportedly in an extramarital relationship with Pushpa, the wife of the victim, 42-year-old Sunil Nayak. According to police, Malik devised a plan to eliminate Nayak and gain unhindered access to the relationship.
Investigators said Malik first gained Nayak’s trust, often socialising with him. On March 26, he invited Nayak for a drinking session and took him to a secluded spot in the Bommasandra Industrial Area. Once Nayak was heavily intoxicated and vulnerable, Malik allegedly attacked him and slit his throat using a knife.
After the murder, the accused stuffed the body into a plastic bag and dumped it near a bar in the area in an attempt to conceal the crime.
The body was later discovered, prompting a police investigation. During the probe, officers recovered the murder weapon and gathered forensic evidence linking Malik to the crime. He has since been taken into custody.
A case has been registered under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which pertains to punishment for murder.
Police officials said the investigation is ongoing to establish the full sequence of events and to determine whether any other individuals, including the victim’s wife, had prior knowledge of or involvement in the crime.
