Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, INDIA: In a shocking case of honour killing, a 15-year-old girl was allegedly murdered by her parents in Kanti village of Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj district, police said on Sunday, November 9.
The victim, identified as Sarita, was killed on November 5, and her body was found lying near bushes in the village the next day. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Yamuna Nagar) Vivek Yadav confirmed that the police were alerted after locals spotted the body.
During investigation, the girl’s father, Ramesh, initially tried to mislead the police but later confessed to the crime. According to the police, Ramesh admitted that he was enraged with his daughter for maintaining contact with several boys from the village despite his repeated objections.
On the night of November 5, Sarita’s mother allegedly gave her sedatives before the couple took her about 70–80 metres from their home, where Ramesh slit her throat with a sharp-edged weapon, officials said.
“This is a clear case of honour killing,” DCP Yadav stated.
Both parents have been arrested and are being interrogated further, police added.
