New Delhi, INDIA: The Delhi Police Crime Branch has arrested three members of a family — including two sisters — for allegedly murdering a 30-year-old man, Mohammad Samsad, in Kalindi Kunj earlier this year. The accused were identified as Samsad’s wife, her sister, and brother-in-law, Izaam alias Nizam, all residents of Madanpur Khadar.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Pankaj Kumar, the incident took place on the night of May 20–21, following a violent altercation between Samsad’s family and his in-laws over a domestic dispute. “Samsad’s wife had complained to her family about being harassed by him. Her relatives confronted Samsad’s family, and during the ensuing fight, he was stabbed. He later succumbed to his injuries during treatment,” DCP Kumar said.
Several others were injured in the clash. The Kalindi Kunj police had earlier arrested six people in the case, but Samsad’s wife, her sister, and Izaam had been absconding since the incident.
After repeated summons were ignored, a Delhi court declared the trio proclaimed offenders on September 15. Acting on technical surveillance and human intelligence, the Crime Branch traced them to the DSIDC area of Narela Industrial Zone and arrested them during a raid on Monday November 3.
During interrogation, police said the motive was rooted in long-standing family tensions. Samsad had allegedly harassed his wife, blaming her sister for the suicide of his brother, who had been married to her. This had triggered repeated quarrels between the two families.
The three accused have been handed over to the Kalindi Kunj police for further investigation and have been formally charged under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). They were produced before the court on Tuesday November 4.
