Hyderabad, Telangana, INDIA: Jogulamba Gadwal police have arrested 10 people, including the alleged mastermind Millu Veeranna, for what investigators describe as the contract killing of former Nandinne sarpanch Boya Chinna Bhimarayudu. The murder, committed on November 21, was allegedly staged to resemble a road accident.
Bhimarayudu, 45, died when his motorcycle was struck by a speeding SUV near the Jampalli bus stand on Raichur Road. Initially registered as an accident case, the inquiry took a sharp turn after forensic analysis raised doubts.
“Through scientific evidence, we realised it was not an accident,” Jogulamba Gadwal SP Raganath Rao said. “Suspicious tyre skid marks at the spot and CCTV footage showing the SUV lying in wait for the victim made the sequence of events clear.”
Murder Conspiracy Rooted in Rivalry and Land Feud
Police said a prolonged political rivalry, an ongoing land dispute, and tensions over the local rice milling business pushed Veeranna to orchestrate the killing. He allegedly hired a gang from Kurnool to execute the plan.
The contract was initially negotiated for ₹15 lakh but was later increased to ₹25 lakh. According to investigators, ₹8 lakh had already been paid in advance. Police intercepted Veeranna’s associates in Gadwal while they were reportedly on their way to hand over the remaining amount to the hired killers.
Mastermind, Son Among Those Arrested
Those arrested include Veeranna’s son Surender, 25, and several associates from Nandinne and Kurnool. Police seized ₹8.5 lakh in cash, four cars, two motorcycles, another car, 11 mobile phones, and 13 SIM cards used during the conspiracy.
“All the accused will be produced before the court, and we will seek maximum punishment,” the SP said.
Police believe the operation was meticulously planned, with the accused coordinating the victim’s movements and positioning the SUV to strike at the precise moment.
The investigation is ongoing, and further arrests have not been ruled out, officials added.
