Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, INDIA: A minor argument over payment for eggs turned deadly in the Thana Dehat area of Meerut on Monday November 3 evening when two brothers allegedly murdered a young man on Kithore Marg. Police have arrested one of the accused while a manhunt is underway for the other.

According to the complaint lodged by Zulfiqar, a resident of Mohalla Bakand in Asoda village, the incident took place outside his canteen — Uvesh Gulzar Confectionery — which also runs an egg stall. Zulfiqar stated that he was present at the canteen with his brother-in-law, Gulzar, when his nephew Arman came running towards them in distress, being chased by two brothers, Aman and Adish, residents of Mohalla Ahsan Nagar.

The complaint alleges that Aman and Adish had earlier taken eggs from Arman and got into an argument when he asked for payment. The dispute escalated when Aman allegedly stabbed Arman in the side, causing him to collapse. Adish then reportedly hit the fallen victim with a brick before both brothers fled the scene as local residents rushed in.

Zulfiqar and others immediately rushed the critically injured Arman to a nearby hospital, from where he was referred to a private hospital on Garh Road. However, he succumbed to his injuries on the way.

Upon receiving the information, Station House Officer (SHO) Inspector Patnish Kumar and his team reached the spot, took custody of the body, and sent it for post-mortem examination. The SHO confirmed that a case of murder has been registered against the accused brothers Aman and Adish. While Aman has been arrested, efforts are ongoing to trace and apprehend Adish.

Prior Enmity Alleged

Zulfiqar further alleged that the accused had a history of causing fights and disturbances in the locality. He claimed that there had been a confrontation between Arman and the accused a few days earlier, and that the duo had been “looking for a chance to kill him.”

On the day of the incident, Arman had returned home from his in-laws’ house with his wife, Shahreen. Around 6 p.m., he stepped out briefly when the accused allegedly intercepted him. Arman reportedly managed to run towards the canteen for safety, but the brothers pursued him and carried out the fatal assault.

Family in Deep Grief

Arman’s death has left his family shattered. He had married Shahreen, a resident of Salai village, just three months ago on August 7, 2025. Shahreen, who is one and a half months pregnant, is said to be in a state of shock and inconsolable.

His father Imran, mother Iram, brother Ahad, and sisters Asba and Afreen are devastated by the tragedy. The grieving parents have demanded the strictest punishment for the killers, saying those who murdered their son “deserve nothing less than death.”

Police said the investigation is ongoing, and efforts are being intensified to arrest the absconding accused, Adish.
