Alwar, Rajasthan: A 30-year-old man was shot dead and six others were injured, one of them critically, during a violent land dispute between two factions of the same family in Raghunathgarh village under the Nauganwa police station limits on Tuesday morning. The clash, which lasted nearly two hours, involved sticks, axes, and firearms.

The deceased, Rafiq Khan, a driver and father of six, was fatally shot in the head while recording a video of the confrontation. He was rushed to a private hospital in Nauganwa and later referred to the district hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

Dispute Over Two Biswa of Land

The violence reportedly stemmed from a long-standing dispute over two biswa of land situated within the victim’s 8-bigha agricultural plot. Rafiq’s family claimed the accused demanded their share in the middle of the property, which the victim’s side opposed, saying it would disrupt their entire land layout.

Attack by 50–60 People

According to the family, a group of 50–60 people from the accused side arrived armed with sticks, axes, and guns around 9 a.m. A fierce clash ensued, with both groups attacking each other. Gunshots were fired, and police later recovered empty shells from the scene. The violence continued until nearly 11 a.m.

Family Claims Police Failed to Respond

Relatives alleged that despite repeated calls to the police control room and the local station between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m., no police team arrived during the clash. Police personnel from Kotwali and NEB stations reached the district hospital only after the shooting and later deployed forces in the village to maintain order. An FSL team also examined the site.

Six Injured, Including Three Women

Six members of Rafiq’s extended family were injured in the attack. Five are undergoing treatment at the Alwar District Hospital, while one was discharged after primary care.

The injured include: Aasini (65) – Rafiq’s mother, with head injuries; Mahmood (40) – maternal uncle; Nooruddin Khan (45) – referred to Jaipur with a severe head injury caused by an iron spade; Rafina (30); and Mahmudi (32)

Rafiq’s mother, who is also injured, was inconsolable at the hospital after losing her son. The victim had become a father to a baby girl just four days before his death.

Accused Identified

A family member, Shahrun Khan, alleged that members of the families of Supeda, Roshan, Fajru, and Suleman led the attack.

Police Statement

Nauganwa SHO Dharamsingh confirmed that a violent clash had taken place between two factions of the same family. He said the matter is under investigation from all angles and action will be taken against those found involved.

Police have increased deployment in the village and at the Alwar District Hospital to prevent any escalation. The body was handed over to the family after a postmortem conducted by a medical board in the evening.
