Faridabad, Haryana, INDIA: A Delhi-based insurance agent was allegedly murdered and his body dumped in a drain in Faridabad after he reportedly blackmailed a woman over her upcoming marriage. The Faridabad Police have arrested the woman, Laxmi (29), and her fiancé, Keshav (26), in connection with the killing.

The victim, identified as Chander, a resident of East Vinod Nagar in Delhi, had gone missing last week. His body was discovered on Sunday October 26 morning in a drain near Atmadpur, with his motorcycle parked nearby. The discovery came after his brother, Madan Gopal, lodged a missing person’s complaint at the Palla Police Station.

According to investigators, Chander had known Laxmi, a resident of Mithapur in southeast Delhi, for around five years. After she got engaged to Keshav, who lives in Santosh Nagar, Burari, Chander allegedly began blackmailing her, threatening to expose her and disrupt her marriage plans.

Unable to bear the harassment, police said, Laxmi and Keshav conspired to eliminate him.

On October 25, Laxmi allegedly called Chander to Mithapur under the pretext of meeting him and then took him on a motorcycle to a deserted area near Atmadpur. There, Keshav and two of his friends allegedly strangled Chander with a rope and hit him on the head before dumping the body in a nearby drain to destroy evidence.

Following their arrest, both Laxmi and Keshav reportedly confessed to the crime during interrogation. Police are conducting raids to trace the two accomplices who remain absconding.

A Faridabad Police spokesperson said further investigation is underway to determine the exact motive and recover the weapon used in the crime.
