New Delhi, INDIA: In a chilling case from central Delhi, a 15-year-old boy allegedly kidnapped and murdered a four-year-old child to exact revenge on the victim’s mother. Police said the juvenile lured the toddler away, pushed him off a 30-foot cliff in a forested area, and then crushed him with a stone before fleeing the scene.
The incident came to light on September 17, when the child’s mother reported him missing. In her complaint, she said her son had returned from tuition classes around 6:30 pm and was playing near their home in Anand Parbat when he suddenly disappeared. Despite an immediate search, the boy could not be found.
A case of kidnapping was initially registered under Section 137(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). During the investigation, police reviewed CCTV footage from the locality, which showed the missing child walking with a teenager. The mother later identified the youth as their neighbour.
Police teams traced the teenager to his residence and apprehended him. During interrogation, the boy confessed to the crime and revealed the motive. According to investigators, the teenager had taken a motorcycle belonging to another resident on the day of the incident and abandoned it in a different locality. When the victim’s mother alerted the owner, the teenager’s father severely reprimanded and beat him.
“Enraged by this, the accused decided to take revenge on the complainant. He lured the four-year-old to a forested area in Ramjas Park, pushed him off a 30-foot cliff, and then struck him with a stone before leaving him grievously injured,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Nidhin Valsan.
Acting on information provided by the juvenile, police recovered the child from the site and rushed him to hospital. However, the boy succumbed to his injuries.
The 15-year-old, who had dropped out of school after Class X, was subsequently booked for murder in addition to kidnapping charges. Both families, police said, had a history of disputes as they lived in the same rented premises and ran shops in the area.
The juvenile has been sent to an observation home while further legal proceedings are underway.
