Youth killed by friends over body-shaming

Gurugram, Haryana, INDIA:  Two men have been arrested for allegedly murdering their 20-year-old friend in Gurugram’s Jatauli village after repeated taunts about their physique. The victim’s body was discovered in the washroom of a government school, police said on Friday.

The deceased, identified as Karn alias Tinda, was found with multiple injuries on August 4 inside the washroom of the Govt Primary School, Jatauli. The discovery was made after teachers noticed bloodstains on the campus and followed the trail to the toilet. Police said the body was already decomposing, making identification difficult.

Following an investigation led by ASI Pradeep Kumar, police arrested the accused – Akash alias Gullu (21) and Shiv Kumar (21), both residents of Jatauli – on August 7.

Murder Over Taunts 

According to police, the three friends entered the school premises in the early hours of August 3 after scaling the boundary wall. While spending time together, Karn – who had a muscular build – allegedly mocked his friends for their lean physique, a taunt he had made frequently in the past.

Enraged, one of the accused attacked Karn with a stone, while the other stabbed him with a pair of scissors. Police said the duo then strangled him with a cloth before dragging the body into the washroom to hide it.

Recovery of Weapons

Investigators have recovered the murder weapons – the stone and the scissors – from the scene.

Police Statement

“During interrogation, the accused admitted that they were fed up with the constant body-shaming by the victim. This led to a heated confrontation on the night of the murder, which escalated into violence,” said police spokesperson ASI Sandeep Kumar.

Karn’s family later identified his body through tattoos and other physical markers. The accused are currently in police remand, and further investigation is underway to determine if any additional motives were involved.

A case of murder has been registered at Pataudi police station.
